Charlestown's Time Capsule to be dedicated
Monday, 15 December 2008
From GBPNEWS.COM

If you think it would be neat to send a note or memento to family members to be delivered 50 years from now in 2058, then get ready, you will be able to do just that this month. The Charlestown Time Capsule will be dedicated and sealed up to be re-opened 50 years from now in Charlestown’s sesquibicentennial celebration in 2058.

The Capsule is a beautiful monument designed and donated by Charlestown Monument Company.
“I want to thank Jeff Grayson, he has done an incredible job in designing this capsule that will be a great symbol of the community spirit we have in Charlestown. This monument will be in Greenway Park for the next 50 years as a reminder of this wonderful year-long celebration of Charlestown’s Bicentennial birthday,” stated Charlestown Mayor Bob Hall.

There has been video taken of the city, video of the residents at Founders Day, items from Charlestown’s centennial and sesquicentennial, pictures on disk of all the events this year (including the hurricane) and many more items. Now the city is calling on all the citizens of Charlestown who would like to put something in the time capsule to bring it to City Hall to be included in this historic capsule.

The dedication of the Time Capsule will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 27 in Greenway Park. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.

For more information call Geri Heal at City Hall at 256-3422.

Get a piece of Hometown nostalgia

Do you remember when...

Remember the days when we used to sneak out to the old Rock Quarry on Hwy. 62 to swim, hang out, and .... whatever?

Well, Charlestown's own Stan Hunt saw the great potential in the Rock Quarry and purchased the property some years ago.  Since then, he has developed the property and built some beautiful houses there.  These houses are top of the line quality.  Stan put in extra EVERYTHING!  Extra nice lighting, central vacuum, extra insulation and higher quality windows.

Stan currently has two houses for sale.  This is your opportunity to get a great deal on a home built as solid as a rock.

Take a look at these houses online at:

CHS '75 Picnic at Greenway Park
Monday, 29 September 2008

The Class of '75 enjoyed fun and friendship in a picnic on Saturday, September 27th.  The winds of Hurricane Ike put a little kink in their plans, but the picnic still went on.  They enjoyed a great time at Greenway Park, beginning at 2pm and some were there until well after dark!

Throughout the day, conversation turned to Mousey Spooner, who passed away in the week prior to the picnic.  More conversation about other classmates who had passed away in previous years.  Saddness was dampered by memories that were shared and laughter about something someone did, way back when...

Yearbooks, senior wills, newspapers and old photos were the popular items of the day!  Everyone enjoyed searching through some of the old yearbooks for a picture of themself, old friends, teachers (favorites and not so favorite) and maybe even some old enemies.
